そして、太陽が沈み、夜の帳が下りる頃、三島のまちの風景も昼間から夜へと変わっていきます。通りには街灯が灯り、その鮮やかな光が石畳の道や水路に反射しはじめるのです。
ハレノヒVol.4では、三島の夜の美しさについて取り上げます。普段よく訪れる私たちのお気に入りの場所を夜に訪れ、その夜の風景とともにあるカクテルバーの視点からもう一度まちを覗いてみました。
洗練されたスタイルと時間とともに磨かれてきた芸術性を兼ねた、三島の3人のバーテンダーの方たち。彼らは、彼らの考える「美しさ」をお店で表現し、人と人をつなぎ、物語を共有し、ゆったりと時間を過ごす空間を作りあげるために人生を捧げてきました。

With its winding roads, lush parks, and quiet riverside trials, the ideal way to truly appreciate the beauty of Mishima is to put on your favorite walking shoes and go for a long stroll. Join joggers, commuters, and school children alike starting their day in the morning air, passing each other against the backdrop of bubbling springs and stately trees.
Then as the sun goes down and day turns to night, Mishima's twilight transformation begins to unfold. Street lamps begin to cast their shadows along the city's cobblestone roads as vibrant colors of the night reflect on its waterways.
In Volume 4 of Harenohi, we reflect on the beauty of Mishima nights. To do so, we revisited some of our favorite places to view the city, to see it once again from the perspective of its moonlit cityscapes and the cocktail bars that are open nearby.
In its making, the Harenohi team spoke to three people who stand at the intersection of style and sophistication and where artistry blends with classic refinement. All three of these expert bartenders have dedicated their lives to reinterpreting the beauty of their surroundings and have created a space for bar-goers to connect, share stories, and unwind.
While there are many bars that we could have chosen for these pages, we have selected only a small sample to represent what a night out in Mishima has to offer. Our hope is that this issue, featuring these stars of the bar counter and the landscapes in which they reside will compel us all to take a closer look at Mishima at night, and try for yourself the spirits they concoct in their silver shakers and black bowties.

川の中を歩ける飛び石の遊歩道でおなじみの源兵衛川。夜のお散歩では、足を踏み外さないように、ゆっくりと注意深く歩きましょう。ときには立ち止まって、せせらぎや木の葉の音に耳を傾けたり、キラキラと光る水面を眺めたりするのもいいですね。
At night, we walk a little more slowly, a little more carefully up the stepping-stones that make their way through the Genbe River. We stop to listen to the babbling of the spring waters that shimmer beneath our feet and hear the gentle breeze as the leaves rustle overhead.
夜の白滝公園の森は、鬱蒼としていて近寄りがたい雰囲気を醸し出しています。少し勇気を出して森の中へ足を踏み入れると、街灯が優しく温かく足元を照らしてくれています。耳に響く湧き水の音や湿った空気、緑と土の香りも三島の夜ならでは。
At night, the forest at Shirataki Park may not look as inviting as during the day. Yet, with one step inside, you will find yet another beautiful part of the city with soft lighting illuminating your path. Here the air is earthy and moist, and through the trees, lights flicker as spring water bubbles at our feet.
かつて宿場町・三島のメインストリートとして人々が行き交った鎌倉古道。今では裏通りとなりましたが、三嶋大社の西の鳥居から続く道には、趣のある赤橋や源兵衛橋（白旗橋）、古い門柱などがあります。また廃園となった幼稚園が整備され、人の集まるエリアとしても再び注目されています。
Once one of Mishima's main thoroughfares, the Kamakura Kodo is now a quiet street running through the city to Mishima Shrine's west gate. Along the way, be sure to see the charming Aka Bashi or Red Bridge, the Genbe Bridge, and several majestic gateposts dating back to days long gone. As well, a former kindergarten, now beautifully renovated is attracting much attention and people to the area.
「村でも町でも新しく訪ねていったところは必ず高いところへ上って見よ」という民俗学者・宮本常一の言葉に倣い、三島のまちを高いところから見おろしてみました。慣れ親しんだまちでも、視点を変えると新しい発見があるものです。
The folklorist Miyamoto Tsuneichi once said, 'Whether you are visiting a small town, or a large city, always find a way to see it from above'. And looking at Mishima from this high vantage point, we too discovered things that were always there, yet completely unknown.
