ハレノヒVol.1を制作するにあたり、三島で活躍される6名の方々にお話をうかがいました。彼らの視点を通して、新たな視点で三島のまちを見るためです。
ティム・ドナヒューさん（ミュージシャン）は三島の発する静寂の音色が彼の音楽作りに影響を与えているのだと語ってくれました。そのお話を聞いて私たちは、彼の作り出す音楽が常緑樹の森の中に浮かんでいる光景を頭の中にイメージしました。そして、そのイメージにぴったりな場所を三島の中心部にある楽寿園に入ってすぐの森の中で見つけたのです。
八塚春名さん（日本大学 助教）からは「三島には、まち中にたくさんのベンチがあるんです！」という情報をいただきました。八塚さんが三島のまちを歩いていて気が付いたそう。そこで私たちは、三島の、まち中にどんなベンチがあるのか歩いて調査してみることにしました。そうしてできあがったのが、このページで後にご紹介する、ハレノヒの三島ベンチマップです。
このハレノヒVol.1はハレノヒチームが楽しみながら制作しました。みなさんにもどうぞ楽しんで読んでいただけますように！
To create our first issue, the Harenohi team spoke to six people living and working in Mishima to see our city through their eyes.
Tim Donahue (musician) spoke of the sounds of nature, the solitude, and indeed the silence of Mishima that has influenced his music through the years. In mid-interview, we could imagine his musical arrangements floating through a forest of evergreens, and we found the perfect photo location just beyond the entrance of Rakujuen Park in central Mishima.
When speaking with Dr. Haruna Yatsuka, she mentioned an observation she had made while walking the streets of Mishima, "…and all around the city there are so many benches!" From here, we set out on a walking tour to document the benches that line the city streets. The result is our Harenohi Mishima bench map.

Minutes from Mishima Station, just inside the entrance to Rakujuen Park, stands this beautiful, rich forest of tress known as Kohama No Mori. It is a place to calm the mind and spirit, and according to Mr. Tim Donahue (Harenohi Vol.1 pg. 5), guitarist and resident of Mishima, the ideal location to find musical inspiration. What melodies might you find on your next visit?

「目に見えない、大切なもの。」（ハレノヒVol.1 P7-8）そんな水を撮影したのは飛び石が楽しい源兵衛川。夏になると、こどもが（大人も）歓声をあげて水遊びするこの場所。水の流れにそっと顔を近づけてみると、目に見えないはずのその姿が、光によって浮かび上がっているのがわかります。
Some of the most important things in life cannot be seen. (Harenohi Vol. 1 pg. 7-8) Where children and adults alike come to relax and play, with its crystal-clear spring water and stepping stones, we were able to capture one fleeting moment of the beautiful Genbe River in this photo. On your next trip, take a closer look at the gentle current as it flows beneath your feet. What was once invisible will come to life in the shimmering light, taking on new forms with each passing moment.

鉄道好きの人もそうでない人もワクワクしちゃうこの場所。三島田町駅から西に約150mの線路下です。頭の真上を電車が走るなんてドキドキ…！電車のスピードと振動、迫力を体感できますよ。
Whether you are a railway fan or just enjoy quiet city walks, this hidden treasure of a location is sure to bring a smile of excitement. Situated approximately 150m from Mishima Tamachi Station, pedestrians can stand below the Izu Hakone Railway and feel the power of the iron rail and the vibration of the approaching train as it passes directly overhead.

「三嶋大社にはデザインのヒントが溢れています。」（藤沼祐介さん ハレノヒVol.1 P10）
三島に住む人の日常の中にある三嶋大社。お参りはもちろんのこと、お散歩したりお花見したり、みなさんが親しみを持っている場所です。藤沼さんが見つけたタッセル風の装飾は、本殿のこの場所にあります。それ以外の建物や装飾にも注目してみましょう。綺麗な色使いや、面白い形のモチーフ、シンメトリーのデザインに気づくはずです。昔も今も、人々が美しいと思うものには共通点があるのかもしれません。

For the residents of Mishima, Mishima Taisha or Mishima Grand Shrine, is a part of daily life. Whether there to take an invigorating stroll, to view the magnificent cherry blossoms in spring, or to silently pray, it as a place familiar to one and all.
A tassel-like ornament found by Mr. Fujinuma on one of his visits can be seen hanging just inside the main hall. On your next visit, be sure to look for it and other decorations and structures, and you just may discover a new world of brilliant colors, alluring motifs, and compelling symmetrical design features. What was once beautiful in our ancient past is still beautiful today, for what is truly beautiful, never grows old.

桜川の上流にある、こちらのベンチで一休みしましょう。このベンチの土台は大昔に富士山から流れてきた溶岩でできています。
Take a rest here at the head of the Sakura River. The base of this bench is made from a piece of lava deposited after an ancient Fujisan eruption.

三島駅の目の前にあるベンチで足休め。ここはまち中ですが、滾々と湧き出る涼しげな泉があるんです。
Rest your legs here in front of the Mishima Station…in this city, you are never far from the babble of cool spring water.

▶白滝公園
夏の暑い日差しから逃れるにしても、冬に木漏れ日で日向ぼっこするにしても、ここ白滝公園は私のお気に入りの場所です！
Whether to escape the heat of summer or to bask in the winter light through the trees, the benches at Shirataki Park have always been my favorite!

▶中央水道塔
三島のまちを歩いていると、突然現れる小さな公園。ここ、実は私設簡易水道の給水塔跡の公園なんです。 一休みにちょうどよい、隠れたおすすめの場所です。
When you are looking to rest after your walk through Mishima, take a step off the main street and you'll find this secluded bench just inside a hidden park that is home to the remains of a private water supply tank. Off the beaten track, and perfect for that quiet break.

左手にはコーヒー、右手にはお気に入りの本を。静かなせせらぎのそばにあるこの一人掛けのベンチは、心と体をリフレッシュするのにぴったりな場所です。
With a coffee in your left hand and your favorite book in your right, a bench-for-one beside this silent stream is the ideal place to refresh your body and mind.

▶御殿川 赤橋付近
鎌倉古道にある赤橋近くのここは、腰かけて小川に足を浸すのにちょうどよく、気持ちのいい場所です。
Beside the 'Aka Bashi' or Red Bridge on the ancient Kamakura Road, you'll find this comfortable seat where you can sit with your feet in the cool Goten River.

こちらのベンチには、熱々の三島コロッケをほおばる人たちがよく座っています。
Look for this bench and you'll most likely see someone there enjoying a piping-hot Mishima Croquette.

伝説によると、古代の天文学者たちは、壮大な富士山をバックに星空を観察するため、大場川にかかるこの橋にやって来たそうです。
According to legend, ancient astronomers came to this bridge over the Daiba River to gaze at the starry sky with the magnificent Mt. Fuji to the north as a backdrop.
